Terms of Service

Last updated: May 3, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating a Distill account or using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

We may update these terms over time. Material changes will be flagged in the product before they take effect, and you can cancel if you don't accept the new terms.

2. What Distill is

Distill is a rehearsal tool. You upload source material (a deck, a job description, your speech draft, or notes) and Distill records you talking it through, scores your delivery, and shows you what to fix before the real event.

The service is provided as-is for personal and professional rehearsal. It's a private practice tool. Nothing happens during your real conversations.

3. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you suspect unauthorized access, let us know at the contact email below and we'll help.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Distill. If you're using it on behalf of a company, you confirm you have the authority to do so.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Distill to record other people without their knowledge or consent. The service captures audio from your microphone for your own rehearsal only.

Don't upload material you don't have the right to use, share, or have processed by an automated system.

Don't try to reverse-engineer the service, abuse rate limits, or use it to build a competing product.

5. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Distill is a paid subscription product. Plans, prices, and limits are listed on the pricing page and may change. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price change applies to them.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep access until then. We don't issue prorated refunds for the current period.

Annual plans are billed up front for the year. Monthly plans are billed each month.

6. Your content

Anything you upload, say into Distill, or generate through the service stays yours. You grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide the service to you (transcription, scoring, suggestions).

We don't use your recordings, transcripts, or uploads to train external AI models. See the Privacy Policy for the details.

7. Distill's intellectual property

The Distill name, logo, software, scoring system, and product design belong to us. These terms don't transfer any of that to you beyond the right to use the service while you have an active account.

8. Service availability

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may take the service down for maintenance, updates, or for reasons beyond our control. We'll communicate planned downtime where we can.

9. Disclaimers and liability

Distill is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. Scoring is a tool to help you improve; it's not a guarantee that you'll perform well in your real-world moment.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Termination

You can stop using Distill at any time by canceling your subscription and deleting your account.

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or if continued service would expose us or other users to legal risk. We'll give you a chance to cure the issue first where reasonable.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County.
